Description:

Duties:

- Educate students using various teaching methods and materials
- Develop lesson plans based on The Creative Curriculum and educational activities based on student needs
- Provide individualized attention to students to support their learning
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational experience
- Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Monitor and assess student progress to adjust teaching strategies as needed with documentation on Teaching Strategies Gold.

Skills:

- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Knowledge of child welfare and development principles
- Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development
- Background in early childhood education or related field
- Ability to provide tutoring and support to students as needed
- Familiarity with preschool education standards and practices
- Strong physical education skills for promoting active learning
- Excellent classroom management abilities

Qualifications:

Requirements:

-Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with NYS Teaching Certification

OR

-Study Plan Teacher- In a program to gain Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Early Childhood (or related field with a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Credits)

  • A person who does not have a degree in early childhood education may qualify to be a group teacher if they have a Baccalaureate or higher degree in one of the following:
  • · Child Psychology, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood
  • · Child Development, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood
  • · Elementary Education
  • · N-6 Elementary Education
  • · Special Education, Students with Disabilities (B-2) or Students with Disabilities (1-6)
  • · General Education, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood
  • For teachers who are fully certified, NYS Certifications in the areas below are acceptable:
  • · Nursery – 6th Grade
  • · Early Childhood (Birth – 2nd Grade)
  • · Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)
  • · Special Education-N-12th Grade
  • · Students with Disabilities Birth – 2nd Grade
  • · Students with Disabilities 1st-6th Grade
  • · Pre-K – 2nd Grade
  • To confirm the qualification, the Department will review
  • · Official Transcripts issued by school or university
  • · Proof of NYS Certification
  • · Copy of Baccalaureate degree or higher
  • · Course descriptions

*Study Plan Teachers are also encouraged to apply. A study plan teacher is a person who is currently enrolled in college working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Early Childhood or field listed above. **Alternative salary to be discussed at interview.

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education Level: NYS Teacher Certification
